Formula Environmental and Site Risk Policy
Legal compliance is a fundamental requirement of Saint-Gobain Gyproc’s Environment and Site Risk (E&SR) Policy and Saint-Gobain’s EHS Charter. All Saint-Gobain Gyproc sites and operations will ensure that appropriate systems, procedures and resources are in place to comply with all relevant E&SR legislation and the requirements of all applicable standards.
Saint-Gobain Gyproc sites are required to implement a compliance management system. The system should be appropriate and proportionate to the nature and scale of the activities and operations at each site. Therefore, smaller sites, warehouses, offices etc will only require simple systems such as checklists, to cover the relatively small amount of E&SR legislation that applies to them.
As an example, offices may only be covered by waste legislation for the disposal of general waste, toner cartridges, fluorescent light bulbs, and in this case, a simple set of procedures and periodic checks may be the requirement for compliance.
All systems must, as a minimum, incorporate methods to ensure that:
- All E&SR legislation and standards are identified
- The requirements for compliance are clearly understood
- The risks to compliance have been properly identified and assessed
- Appropriate resources are allocated to ensure compliance
- Systems, controls & procedures are implemented to provide the basis for sustainable compliance
- Compliance is maintained under normal, abnormal and emergency conditions (where appropriate)
