In 2022, we introduced a gypsum take-back service at our manufacturing sites in Romania and Thailand. This service enables the collection and recycling of post-use gypsum, which is reintroduced into our production processes, reducing the need for virgin raw materials.

Based on initial implementation results, we are exploring opportunities to extend this approach to additional countries. Our ambition is to progressively expand this service with the goal of offering a recycling solution at all Saint‑Gobain Formula plants by 2030.

Quarry restoration at our Bantycock and Walkenried sites includes habitat management and the creation of areas designed to support local biodiversity. These activities involve developing and maintaining habitats suitable for species such as reptiles, amphibians and insects.

Examples include species such as the Comma butterfly, photographed here by on-site ecologist Annika Kruse.

2022 was a milestone year in Newark. Our proposal to upgrade the office heating system was selected for funding through the Saint‑Gobain Carbon Fund. We installed air source heat pumps, replacing the existing gas-fired system.

Climate Fresk is a workshop designed to explain the science behind climate change and explore actions individuals can take in their personal and professional lives. We started training our employees in 2023 and have since reached our ambition to train 80% of our workforce by 2025.

We have a range of projects planned for the coming years focused on improving energy efficiency, increasing the use of alternative energy sources and developing more circular approaches to resource use.

With the support of our customers, suppliers and partners, we aim to implement these initiatives across our operations.
