SLIP CASTING
We supply controlled porosity plaster for slip casting. This is a traditional process to manufacture moulds for the ceramic industry.
In slip casting, the porosity of the plaster mould absorbs the water in the ceramic slurry, taking the shape of the mould and creating the cake.
The thickness of this "skin" is proportional to the time for which it is allowed to form.
Saint-Gobain Formula is able to control the porosity and the absorption capacity of the moulds, allowing manufacturers to extend production speed and mould life.
Each of our local manufacturing sites supplies a wide range of tailor-made solutions adapted to every type of clay such as vitreous, bone china, fine fired clay or refractories.
Our solutions are suitable for slip casting, solid casting or hollow casting with several castings per day, long mould life and perfect reproduction of details.
SPAGLESS / CAPILLARY / LOW PRESSURE CASTING
An innovative plaster technology with optimised dewatering and permeability for higher productivity.
By combining high absorption rate for efficient skin forming and optimised air permeability for fast dewatering time, Saint-Gobain Formula developed the multipressure (MP) range dedicated to sanitaryware manufacturing.

MEDIUM PRESSURE CASTING
Our alpha plasters provide a high level of mould life and permeability improving the number of casts per day.
Medium pressure casting provides a good balance between pressure casting high efficiency and traditional casting flexibility and quality.
The mould is no longer used for its natural porosity but as a filter-press. A network is created using porous sleeves or tubes directly cast into the mould.
With extensive experience in alpha plaster production, Saint-Gobain Formula supplies dedicated solutions for medium pressure casting allowing our customers to achieve high mechanical expectations and fast dewatering time.
FRAME BASE (DEMOULDING SUPPORT) FOR CERAMIC GREENWARE
Cerrostone™ is a patented technology developed by Saint-Gobain Formulas’ experts to provide optimised water absorption, mechanical resistance and improved lifetime for ceramic greenware support.
The demoulding support produced with CerrostoneTM has lifetime up to 10 times higher than the ones produced with standard beta plaster.
This new product absorbs water from the ceramic greenware without deformation and with easy fabrication process.
