Conservation experts celebrate protected butterfly discovery at Newark quarry and factory
Last summer the company was delighted to find that the species had been located in restored areas of Bantycock Quarry near Newark. This summer the celebrations have gone up a level with the sighting of the butterfly and its eggs on the company’s adjacent factory site - Jericho Works.
The protected and very rare Grizzled Skipper butterfly is back! Local company Saint-Gobain Formula has joined with local ecologists and conservationists to celebrate the discovery that the butterfly is breeding on its Newark site.

Newark homeless charity receives gift from local company
For most of us, Christmas seems a long time ago, but some local homeless people are still enjoying the extra gifts they received this year, thanks to the Newark-based charity which supports them and a timely donation from local company Saint-Gobain Formula.

Hive Installation Creates a Buzz at Gypsum Quarry
Local company Saint-Gobain Formula and beekeeper Tristan Dixon have joined forces to help boost the declining honey bee population. Beehives are being installed at the company’s Bantycock Quarry, where conditions are favourable for the bees to thrive.

The trees, which will all be planted by the end of the 2017-2018 planting season, have been specially selected to create a mix of wet woodland and native woodland species and will provide important habitat for birds and wildlife, while contributing to the region’s biodiversity targets, across this 25-acre part of the site.

NEWARK MIND is the 2017 chosen charity of Saint-Gobain Formula, which has its UK headquarters in the town.
The firm, on Bowbridge Lane, has already started fundraising and has presented a cheque for £4,500 to the mental health charity.
